Living Room at Kerstin Engholm Gallery

In response to (and constructing a fictional narrative from) photographs of the hallway inside le Corbusier’s newly completed Villa Stein, of 1927 (designed to house the extraordinary art collection of Michael and Sarah Stein) ‘Living Room’ at the Kerstin Engholm Gallery, incorporated an installation of floating pavilions and wall-based paintings.
Playing out the grid-like look of domestic furniture, incorporating decorative items like vases and other forms of homely bric-a-brac, the ensuing conversation, between the flattened furniture, modernist abstraction and decorative design aesthetic, set out to create an in-between state of homeliness, loss and beauty.
